Gurgaon: Poor Poorer Poorest

Posting a blog on another blog.. .. how common is that?

As common as the power outages in Gurgaon or as uncommon as common civic sense ?

Don't know but can't agree more with author about poor state of civic infrastructure in Guragon.

Who should be held responsible... builders, government, property dealers, politicians, government servants, administrators, bureaucrats,  civic bodies, citizens  as a whole ..... yes all of us

Movie of the day - Fair Game

Fair Game

It is based on Valerie Plame's memoir, Fair Game: My Life as a Spy, My Betrayal by the White House

The film won the " Freedom of Expression Award" from the National Board of Review.

The narration was too fast... . Enjoyed it fully.

Quit your job

Who has not thought of quitting his job and doing something else.

I am thinking about this all the time.

Here is an article on things to do in 2012 and what I am seeing is this line :"You wanna quit your job and follow your passion -- QUIT. You will never have enough money to save up and start afresh because your needs will grow as you grow."

Only problem- my needs have already grown, I can see them growing further in the days ahead and I do not see a way of supporting myself without the job

Hindi - National Language Caught in Officialdom

OUTLOOK has an interesting article  on Hindi as national language specially in the context of  official work.
 1. I have had the good fortune to experience efforts to promote Hindi in सरकारी कामकाज, having worked in a government of India owned organisation once.
2. The highlight of this experience was appearing before the  Parliamentary Standing Committee to explain the work done by my employer to promote the national language.
3. Once, true to my habit, I entered into an argument, with the 'Hindi Officer' ( हिंदी अधिकारी) conducting a   training to meet the official targets.
4. My argument was simple - you cannot promote Hindi through these methods.
5. The trainer protested.Had to. Her employment depended on the same.
6. Some interesting facts from this article :
a)Great Hindi poets like Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Ramdhari Singh Dinkar were once part of the   official committees on Hindi.
b) Hindi equivalent of  a Customs Officer is " सीमा शुल्क सदन अधिकारी".
c) Dinkar called  this  a perfect      " Tulsidas ki chaupai".
d) The official Hindi words for some of the common  & functional English words are:
i) Keyboard - कुंजीपटल
ii) Globalisation- भुमंडीलिकरण
iii) Ergonomics - श्रमदक्षता शाश्त्र
